What is NTP?
The Network Time Protocol (NTP) is a protocol used for synchronising accurately via a computer network, the local clock of computers based on a time reference. It guarantees reliable, accurate synchronisation and timestamping of all IP equipment connected to the network.
What is PTP?
The Precision Time Protocol (PTP) is a network protocol used for synchronising accurately a client (PTP slave) with a server (PTP Grandmaster). Its level of accuracy is down to the microsecond. The PTP protocol has a greater level of accuracy than the NTP protocol. It is strongly recommended for transportation, defence, industry and telecommunication applications.
